Welcome to Folldal!

I wish that the residents, tourists and cabin owners enjoy and have wonderful experiences in Folldal. We as a community will do our best to provide access to municipality’s qualitative infrastructures for everyone.

Folldal is spread through a vast area surrounded by panoramic mountain views; magnificent Rondane, Snøhetta and Einunndalen with active summer farming. This easily accessible nature lies in the vicinity of the Folldal municipality and it is rich with plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreations where hunting, fishing, hiking, and riding offer pleasant experiences. Tours on dog sleds and cycling along mountain paths are also very popular.

We have lovely winters with stable temperatures. Winter after Christmas offers lots of snow, sunny days and white plateaus with tempting opportunities for skiing and winter activities. A short but exciting spring followed by summer with lush vegetation and stunning sceneries filled with autumn colors provide opportunities for walks in the woods and Mogop mai_2 mountains, possibly along with hiking groups. These opportunities may provide hikers spectacular moments to watch herds of caribou in the mountains, Arctic Violets (mogopen) dancing in the breeze or grouse play in the forest. Besides, Folldal has an active cultural life with societies and associations which give numerous offers for music, choirs, sports, tour groups, youth and senior activities.

We have excellent infrastructure facilities in Folldal municipality; a new junior school attached to multipurpose building, a new library, swimming pool and a well-recognized cultural school. It also has a well functional nursery with separate sections for youngsters and a well-organized outdoor area with ample openings for activities. Normally, the municipality provides a place in the nursery within 14 days.

While an active agriculture contributes to an open and vibrant cultural landscape, Stormoegga activity park offers personalized training opportunities in ski jumping, biathlon, roller skiing and skiing facilities. Visiting Folldal mines and its well conserved rural traditional lodges will give a glimpse of the proud history of a rich mining community. Last but not least National tour route in Rondane and world famous Blue Mountains are once in a life time experience well worth a visit.
